I'm Selina You, and I am so honored to be Miss Junior Teen United States - 2024. I am beyond grateful and excited to embark on this incredible journey.
I believe that celebrating and embracing the diverse cultures that make up our society is essential for building understanding and unity. Through my platform, Cultural Appreciation, I aim to educate others about the beauty of different traditions, holidays, and food, and also encourage people to appreciate the cultural diversity in our communities. I hope that with this Title, I can inspire others to explore and honor other cultures beyond their own. At my school, I started a club called the Cultural Appreciation club where students learn about the different cultures. My club also hosts an event called Cultural Appreciation Day where we set up cultural booths with food samples and information on posters. Students get to try samples and also learn at the same time!
I enjoy travel for fun and for dance competitions, so I get exposure to many cultures while traveling! One of my major loves is ballroom dancing, which I’ve done domestically and internationally, while competing in the styles International Latin, Standard, and American Smooth. I’ve traveled as far as England to compete in one of the largest competitions in the world, where I took 4th place for solo Standard, 3rd place for Smooth, and 6th place for solo Latin.
During my time as Miss Junior Teen United States, I plan on helping schools across the nation develop Cultural Appreciation clubs of their own as well as use my Title to help out whenever I can.
