Mrs. United States - 2020
Caitlyn Schollmeier
Caitlyn Schollmeier is a veteran of the United States Air Force, Licensed Nurse, Doula, and reigning Mrs. United States - 2020. She has a BA in Human Development, and is currently in the process of applying to graduate school to become a Certified Nurse Midwife. She has been married to her husband Matt for 6 wonderful years and they are expecting twins in early 2021.
A major source of growth has come from engaging with her passion for women’s empowerment. Caitlyn has spent the entirety of her adult life promoting and advancing the interests of women by advocating for more respectful and equitable treatment of women and mothers in the health care setting and broader community.
In the military she worked as a medic in Women’s Health Clinics and Labor and Delivery units around the world where she learned the tenets of respect and ethical treatment from some of the most thoughtful and empathetic maternal health providers in the field.
While she has witnessed the most beautiful parts of the childbirth experience, she is also deeply saddened by the ugly birth experiences that exist due to widespread and deeply ingrained flaws in the U.S. maternal health system. Her passion and platform revolves around curing gaps she sees in the system, and her first step in doing so is through education and awareness.
