Ms. Woman United States - 2021

Sara Peterson

We may not know them all, but we owe them all. As our veterans return to civilian life, they
find themselves struggling. Today over 22 veterans commit suicide each day. Sara Peterson
intends to help stop that number one conversation, one run, one interaction at a time. As an
advocate for prevention of veteran suicide, Sara volunteers and speaks on behalf of our
veterans for many organizations.

Sara Peterson is a business professional with her masters in human resources and
communication. Sara uses those skills in being an advocate for people and her communication
skills to help support her passion of supporting our military men and women. In the 10 years
she served as a firefighter and EMT, she was honored to save homes, lives and even deliver three
babies.

She has had the opportunity to partner with organizations across the country from Operations
First Response out of Virginia, Stop Veterans Suicide organization, to our own local Eagles
Healing nest here in Sauk Centre. These activities include remodeling buildings, running events
for the cause, which included 1000 miles in 10 weeks to raise funds, and attending speaking engagements
to spread awareness. Her challenge to the American people is to rethink how many of us have
come to stereotype veterans, we must launch a wave of awareness and action to care for and
support them.

As Ms. Woman United States - 2021 Sara carries that passion in sharing the disconnects that exist in
our current government programs and the lack of assistance for our veterans currently receive. She enjoys
meeting new people, sharing experiences and hearing their amazing stories.

In Sara’s free time she is outdoors, running, being on the water, working with a service dog in training,
hanging out with her family which includes two amazing grandchildren and enjoying every moment that life brings her way.
